Monday, Monday… I have noticed that it is popular here on WordPress to attach a theme to a day: Thursday Doors, Meet-a-blogger Friday, Book Wednesday. It looks somehow American to me, am I wrong? I like the idea but I cannot imagine I could introduce such thing – and keep up to its schedule. I tried to create a regular post theme called “5 things” a year ago – for a collection of things that inspire me in the moment. And last time I did such a post was in April last year. My oh my… Regular categories are not for me 🙂
So I would love to attach some funny tag to Monday – but I don’t want to make more commitments. This space here is for learning to walk with inspiration and creativity, and I have enough scheduling in other parts of my life, so why schedule more? Some bloggers however prefer making a content plan and sticking to it, or picking up a commitment which helps them to stay on track. I am a true hippie in this regard, running wild and free 🙂 And what is your blogging style?
There are routines I love though. I love Mondays because after the free and scattered spirit of the weekend I can get back to my desk. I really like my Monday solitude and feel like a true writer, hehe. Getting back to work. Coffee and my notebook. My notebook and coffee. Not a computer even, no. Hand writing is the best. I cannot call it work because I write my morning pages (a practice picked from “The Artist’s Way”) – but I am serious about it like it were work. In this moment I feel myself totally at home. And even the weather doesn’t matter (are you kidding me?). If the sun is shining, I smile, if it is replaced by the weird snow storm (like right now) I am still focused on the paper.
Today I feel like playing games and making riddles. So I wanted to call it a Riddle Monday, but I knew at once that I would hate if I had to commit to such routine. The only stable thing on this blog is my complaining about the Norwegian weather, haha. And how can you keep silent about it? After we’ve seen plus temps in the forecast we decided that the spring is near. But as I am writing this, the snow started to fall down, fall up and whirl to every side. What is this? Some kind of weird winter good-bye? As my fellow Nordic blogger The Snow Melts Somewhere has written: “Everyone says the snow is pretty, but what is really pretty about it? It just covers everything in white. Not adding color, no flowers to anything”. After four months of observing the snow – I agree 🙂 The snow is pretty during the first days. It is fresh and new, making a nice contrast on the black tree branches. But after you’ve seen it for a while, it is all black-and-white movie, day after day, month after month. Do you like black-and-white movies? Because I prefer the color ones.
The other day I found myself so hungry for colors and a different view that I opened some photo albums on my pc and browsed through my old pictures. This was such a refreshing sight, and I decided to share more old photos while the new ones are still on hold because of the weather. This brings me to the Riddle Monday theme of the day. Today I want to share a collection of doors and windows – and let you guess where the pics were taken. Where is this pretty place?
Enjoy the colors and start this week doing something you love!
I know… It starts with a T. The restaurant gave it away. 😉

Now you puzzle me! I had to look at every picture 🙂 Which restaurant? That name impossible to pronounce? Txantxangorri? It is not it.

Hhahah. The town doesn’t start with a T? 😮 I googled Sadoll restaurant…

Wow, the town does start with T. But I didn’t think of such option as googling restaurants 🙂 Wow, Manja, you are good!
So you can say the name right away then!
P. S. I really hoped someone would mistake it for something Italian because this town has Roman history, ruins, the old theatre, all included 🙂 Don’t you think the facades look like they could be Italian?

I see in the comment below that it’s been guessed correctly already: it’s Tarragona! And yes, I can see it, it could easily be in Italy too. Fascinating!

But I admire your wit! Go google team :)))
Did you know that Tarragona was founded by Romans and it’s name is Tarraco in Latin? I will make a follow-up post with some ruins. I got such an Italian dejavu in this town!

Thanks. 😉 No, I didn’t know any of that. I know very little about Spain. Good to be educated.

I could be your teacher on Spain then, haha :)))

Barcelona? 😊 Thanks for the mention! It does sound like something I would say, and I’d say it again right now coz we are having a similar weird snowstorm here too! 😬❄️❄️❄️

Good try, but no. Not far from Barcelona, but I thought it would be too simple to make it BCN 🙂
I think you said in the post about heavy snowfall in Helsinki 🙂 The weird snowstorm was over quite fast, and today the sun is melting the snow. I hear drops on my balconies and it is music to my ears :))

I thought BCN would be too easy, but the Basque restaurant and the Spanish streets signs could have been from there 😊 Oh well! The sun is out here too and I’m on my way to an appointment. Just had a coffee in a cool cafe on the way and the cup had someone else’s lipstick on it. Not exactly an instagram moment! But the coffee was good! Better be, for 4 euros! 😂

Aha, you read the street signs! Good! You know what Manja did, such a spy?)) check out her comment above 🙂
Hm, that Basque restaurant was a bad idea. I really hoped, people would go for Italy or Croatia. But where in Italy do you find Basque food, haha?
Jeez, someone’s lipstick on your cup? Go get another one! First, drink yours (Ukrainian tip, haha). For 4 euros, mamma mia! But it doesn’t get any cheaper than 2 euros from the machine, no? 🙂

I decided to be cool about the lipstick. Usually I’d complain. I guess I’m getting too old for those cool places. Next time I’ll go to a neat, clean cafe from a large chain! With all the grannies. Like me 😂

Usually I don’t complain, and I need to practice at speaking up (I am shy and afraid of all opposition, I am true Norwegian, or they are even better than me :))
Oh, I love discovering new cool places. What I really miss is the old cool places. The only old tradition here is to be found in bakeries, more or less. Yes, let’s hang out with grannies now :)))

I hate routines like the ones you mentioned. To me, it makes something a chore! Something I enjoy, would become painful.
Your comments about the weather make me smile. I feel the same way but about New York! After some lovely cool ( not FREEZING) days and visits to the botanical gardens, I am not happy about the upcoming snowstorm this Wednesday.
But we have simple joys- writing, art, simple routines, riddles and what not to keep on moving. 🙂

It is good to have some routines, but putting too many routines in creativity kills my flow. Looks like we are similar on that one 🙂
Really? Haha, that I am happy to make you smile 🙂 I would think New York tends to have better weather than here up in the North. But with all season changes now it is hard to say what is stable and normal, not anymore.
Yes, important to remember that we create our own life, day by day, and we have so many tools to make it the way we like 🙂

I just had a friend come back after a trip to Norway and she was saying how pleasant the weather here was. She was saying Copenhagen is like a snow globe, even if it’s sunny. 😂
But on the 2nd day of spring, we are in the midst of a snow storm here– so the weather is a high topic of discussion. 🙂

Oh, but don’t you break my little Norwegian heart saying that Copenhagen is cold. It is in Denmark 🙂 (joking, of course. No heart broken)
Yes, the weather got totally out of hand this year. Still here it is normal with winter until the middle of April. Which is ok for locals, but for me, I am already tired of this white white tale 🙂

Txantxangorri is Basque but the buildings don’t look right for anywhere in the Basque country. However, I’m pretty sure it’s in Spain but on the Med rather than Atlantic coast – Tarragona?

it is not Basque country, no. Wow, you know Spain so well! What does it make you think that it is Tarragona? And not Barcelona or Girona, for example?
